Intervjuer
Surfmusic.ru intervju
What are you motto
and aim?
Our motto is to play as simple and stupid riffs as possible. Our aim is
just to get some gigs and being able to record and release some albums.
Although a Mtv weekend would be nice...
Why you band name is The Bustin
Burritos?
It's inspired by the Dick Dale song Bustin' Surfboards. It makes no sence
but we like it.
Why surf rock?
Well none of us in the band can sing very well so it fits us good to play
instrumental music. It's more fun and challenging for me as a guitarist
too. And you can name your songs to whatever you like.
Explain your style?
Phil Dirt at Reverb central once labeled it as Post Surf Cartoon Future
Gloom Instrumental Stereo. I dont really know what that means but it sounds
fun. I think we play some sort of old school surf with additional drummachines,
blip-blop sounds, theremin wails and organs. We like to experiment alot
and we dont want to be just another band that plays the same songs the
same ways as 40 years ago. Right now we're really into feedback and noisy
sounds combined with classic surf guitars.
What was your biggest hit?
I don't think we ever had a hit really, but the songs our audience like
to hear
and we like to play the most might be The ghost of Fireball Roberts. We
always
play that song at the end of our set because it lets us freak out and
make some serious noise before we leave the stage.
Who are your main performers?
Glenn Johansson guitar, Johan Langberg drums and bongos, Jonas Holmberg
bass, Jens Fust Synth and organ, and additional sounds and instruments
by Lancelot Learnalot (our pet robot).
Do you like old moves? What
is your favorite movie?
Everyone in the band likes movies alot. Our favorite director is the one
and only Ingmar Bergman.
What's your studio like?
We record all our stuff on a Fostex Vf-08 digital portastudio in my bedroom.
we got alot of thrashy toy-keyboards and Lo-Fi sounding stuff, but the
fendergear is solid.
How many gigs do you get?
I dont think we have played live for almost a year now. We have been recording
instead, and its hard to get the band together and practise because we
live pretty far away from each other. We got to change this though, because
playing live is really really fun. Especially in front of a drunk audience.
Who design Mexican Guy for
your album cover?
Our synth player Mr, jens Fust. He does most of our artwork for the band
and our website.
What is The Bustin Burritos current project?
To release our first "real" CD called For your Russian/Mexican
mental pictures.
It's a collection of our best demosongs and we remastered and updatet
all the songs. I hope it will be released sometime in June. We really
should get our lazy assess up and find some gigs too.
Give us history of The Bustin
Burritos appearance?
I saw a few songs with Robert Johnson and puchdrunks on swedish TV and
got excited and started to write songs that sounded like I thought that
the rest of the punchdrunks songs would sound like. When I bought their
records I found out
that they sounded nothing like us but we still had a bunch of good songs
recorded and formed a band. This was four or five years ago I think.
At what label are you released
your stuffs?
Our very own brand new label called Tandemhorror Productions. Check it
out at www.tandemhorror.com.
Who is #1 in surf now?
The Swedish band Robert Johnson and Punchdrunks will always be #1 for
us, even though they sound more like a techno band these days. I really
admire bands that tries to do something different though.
Why is indy rock the best,
and what's your thoughts on the majors labels?
Indy rock doesnt feels fabricated and fake. People starting bands just
because its fun to play. The major labels are to big and slow and well,
stupid. They are trying to sell bands like people sell toiletpaper or
toothpaste.
Why do you named your new album
For your RUSSIAN/Mexican mental
pictures ? Why RUSSIAN? What means Russia for you?
Well, we just think its fun to place people where they're not ordinary
found. Imagine a little Mexican dude walking around moscow in his poncho
and sombrero, or a Russian secret agent trying to blend in at the streets
of Mexico city. I do know that people might not wear sombreros these days
and that not every Russian is a secret agent but in our world they are.
Also, instead of being inspired
by sunny california we thought it would be fun to try to get some inspiration
out of coldest siberia combined with the dusty roads of Mexico. We haven't
actually been to any of the countries so we are just fooling around with
some culture clash ideas.
Do you like burritos?
Nah, im more of a taco guy myself actually.

Intervju i Barometern
Utan sång eller med något
mer.
Eller som i plastleksakssurfrockarna Bustin' Burritos fall;
att sjunga verkade otäckt.
Bustin' Burritos.
surfrock.
låtar, fyller Fust i. Vi kör mer på hallonsoda och ballerinakex-imagen.
Det förklarar de olika instrument bandet använder. Leksakssynthar,
